Founded in 1964, the New Prospect Fire Department provides fire
protection, rescue, and basic medical services to a mostly rural area of
40 square miles located in northern Spartanburg County. The
department protects a district with a population of approximately 11,000
citizens, a 7 mile stretch of Interstate 26, and Lake William C. Bowen
which provides drinking water to a majority of the population of
Spartanburg, County. The department responds to an average of 350
calls for service per year, which consists of a wide variety of call types.
